National Electrical Code 1953 and 2017

Updated: Feb 15

Here’s a side-by-side look at the 1953 National Electrical Code book and the 2017 version. It’s not often you see such specific codes and guidelines created nearly 65 years apart!

Control Dynamics President Eric Moran is the owner of the 2017 version. His father, Ron Moran, is the owner of the 1953 version. Both are licensed electrical contractors by trade.

First published in 1897, The National Electrical Code, or NFPA 70, is a regional standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment in the United States. It’s published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). It’s updated every 3 years with the 2017 edition being the most current. Licensed electricians spend years learning the NEC requirements.

Control Dynamics is regularly hired by global companies to plan, managed and install industrial electrical projects required to be built to code.
